PHP is not rocket science. You can learn it on your own at home. However, by learning in a group environment, you'll have other people who can field your questions, and you'll get to see the language from multiple perspectives. By attending the class weekly, you'll be committing a specific time to develop a new skill.

The GeekAustin Beginning PHP Class is taught by Josh Butts (@jimbojsb) (linkedin), a Zend-certified developer and the Director of Development at Vertive. Josh also leads the Austin PHP Meetup. This is the 2nd year that Josh is teaching GeekAustin classes. Josh has always been our first choice to teach the PHP classes. We are delighted that he has agreed to teach for us again.

Based on feedback from previous sections of the class, we will be focusing on the core language. Intermediate topics, like objects and security, will be taught in a followup class.

The Intermediate PHP class will most likely begin in January.

The requirements for the class are as follows:
1) Basic command-line skills on the operating system of your choice.
2) Basic knowledge fo HTML and CSS
3) A laptop that you can bring to class.

The PHP class will meet 7PM-9PM on the following Thursdays:

September 29            October 27
October 6                   November 3
October 13                 November 10
October 20                 November 17
